Anthony Vasquez, began his musical journey, in 1985. That year, because of his love of music, he obtained a paper route and with the money he saved he purchased a fender knock off electric guitar, a 15 watt gorilla amp, and a book on how to play guitar. Before long he had taught himself to play and even to read music. His dad and stepmother seeing his enthusiasm supported his studies with several local guitar teachers. At Gompers High School he played bass and guitar in the high school gospel band. It wasn’t until after he had graduated high school, and after a year with some uncertainty about what to study in college, that he began exploring the classical guitar. He went on to complete the Applied Music Program at Mesa College, in 1990 studying classical guitar. After a stint in the US Air Force, Anthony returned to his studies of guitar at San Diego State University graduating with a Bachelors of Music, Guitar Performance in 2002. Currently Anthony is set to graduate in December of 2007 with his Masters of Music, Guitar Performance from SDSU. Anthony has been teaching privately since 1999, and is also a Substitute Teacher with San Diego Unified School District. Having worked with students of all ages and backgrounds, he has the experience and patience to tailor his lessons to each student.
